It must go in that order because the church is made up of godly families. When the family puts the church ahead of itself, the family will get sick. When the family gets sick, the church gets sick.
Each family must be led by a godly father who teaches and instructs his children in the ways of the Lord. He doesn’t surrender this duty to the pastor or the youth minister. He ensures they are taught in the Word of God in his home, at his table, and in his living room. If his children don’t understand Godhead, he will teach them; if his children don’t understand modesty, he will instruct them; if his children don’t understand the seals, he will walk them through it. If he doesn’t know how, he will step out in faith and learn how. We are the children of Abraham, and God said he chose Abraham because he would teach his children and his household after him.
The work of the fivefold ministry is to equip men to lead their homes, not to supplant the headship of a man in his home. When fathers take up this responsibility with love and consistency, the family becomes a source of strength for the church, building a community of families that support each other.
As fathers lead their families in the ways of the Lord, they set an example for the younger families in the church, demonstrating the importance of godly leadership, instruction and love in the home. Through their guidance and wisdom, fathers play a crucial role in shaping the spiritual foundation of their children and ensuring that the walk of faith is not only upheld in their homes, but is passed on to future generations. This not only strengthens the family but also builds the foundation of the local church, creating a group of families devoted to living out the the message of Christ to this generation and supporting one another in their walk with Christ.
