Modesty and Holiness
To teach modesty of physical presentation to the modern believer is often termed fanaticism or legalism. Obedience to the word of God is not fanaticism, but is the expression, from our hearts, of our love to Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15. If we dress like the world, look like the world and act like the world then how can it be said of us that we are not being conformed to it. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2 Read our full study on this subject below.

Men and Women Swimming Together
If you are a student of the Message you will likely be aware that Brother William Branham spoke about “mixed bathing.” This is basically the terminology used to describe men and women swimming together in public. I want to look at a few quotes from brother Branham on the topic and then review it at…

Biblical References for Dressing Modestly
The Bible very clearly commands both men and women to dress modestly… …distinction in dress between men and women as well as the necessity to avoid certain types of clothing altogether. It doesn’t always spell these things out with precision; if we can see the whole picture of scripture we will see with precision the…

Two Coverings – Excerpt From Holiness Unto the Lord
Two Coverings Excerpt from the book Holiness unto the Lord. The first two clothes designers in history were Adam and God. They designed two coverings that were meant to accomplish the same purpose. One was by God himself, the right way. The other was by sinful man, the wrong way. In the book of Genesis,…

Seeking A Life of Holiness
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16 God has called us to live a life of holiness. Scripture clearly commands us to be holy. In order to live a life of…

Is Make-Up Modest?
In this article I first want to establish that the Bible does indeed command modesty and then from there I want to discuss whether or not make-up can be considered modest. 2 Corinthians 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: We as believers are a letter that is…

Why the Lack of Modesty Among Message Believers?
The question I am posing and intend to answer in this article is simple and straightforward. The Bible clearly teaches modesty for both men and women. Brother Branham’s teaching clearly expounds on these doctrines and God vindicated his ministry. So to state we are message believers and believe that Malachi 4:5-6 part B was fulfilled…

Why Can Jezebel Tire Her Hair But Not Wear Paint?
And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. (2 Kings 9:30) Here we read that Jezebel, in the pride of her office as Queen and Priestess of Baal, painted her face and tired or adorned her head. This…

Is Katastole Speaking of a Long Dress? 1 Timothy 2:9
Katastole In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel [Greek-katastole], with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 1 Timothy 2:9 (KJV 1900) I was challenged recently by an ex-message believer that my understanding of the term katastole (translated as apparel) in 1 Timothy 2:9…

Why Did Jezebel Paint Her Face?
In the book of 1st and 2nd Kings we learn of a woman named Jezebel. She was a Sidonian (non-Israelite) and the daughter of their king. She was married to Ahab and brought Baal worship with her. She was a fanatical worshipper of Baal. She had over 400 prophets of Baal that were employed by…

Did Queen Esther Wear Make-Up?
In response to a few of my recent articles I have been informed that, according to the Bible, Queen Esther wore make-up. I want to examine this charge against her to see if the Bible reveals whether or not this is so. Let’s examine the Scriptures that some individuals have used to “prove” that she…
